Wow, so I finally took the plunge…. I had been debating to make a Facebook page for a few years and only in the past couple weeks gave it the serious thought. More news about the rising debt-income ratio in Canada solidified my choice.
Here are some reasons why I did finally decide to join Facebook and some why it took me this long:
- Facebook pages for realtors and mortgage brokers are consistently some of the most unfollowed pages on Facebook. This is for very good reason, most of them only periodically update their pages and when they do it is just rehashing an article from the Globe and Mail or Ottawa Citizen or it is just one of their listings. No engagement and no real value added.
- I have built up hundreds of articles on my main site (HERE) that I intend on getting out there more to help anyone that they would pertain to.
- Another reason it took me long to join was that I never wanted to seem pushy or have people unfollow me on Facebook. I am guilty of doing this myself with many pages that just repost articles from elsewhere.
- I do enjoy seeing the updates that Facebook is coming up with in VR and live video and I think I can benefit potential clients and also keep myself up to date on new technologies which is a passion of mine.
- This is a key point. By having a Facebook page now, I am more accountable to producing relevant content that would benefit Canadians.
- There is a major problem in Canada with regards to not living within our means and becoming too comfortable with debt. I am a mortgage coach that is there to listen to your goals and hold you accountable to achieve them. Everyone needs coaches, it is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength.
- I am just too passionate about helping others in this industry
This is what you can expect on this page:
- A weekly article on savings or mortgages that I think you will find of value (maybe not for you) to share with someone that might benefit from it
- A weekly article based on issues in the mortgage world that week
- Contests
- I will do all the posts myself, not outsource to administration or a service
- I will answer all messages back very, very quickly
- A copy of my monthly VIP newsletter that I send out
- Possibly some witty banter on top of graphics I find on Twitter or other social media. Basically a little outlet to my financial thoughts.
Thank you and I hope you keep with me!
