The band this week was Miss Polygamy.
This was my first episode alone so I was pretty nervous as Andrew had to run to something else at the last minute. I was really excited for this episode as I got to review a food truck with the pros!
I met up with Don and Jenn Chow ((@FoodiePrints)), the creators of the wildly popular Ottawa food blog FoodiePrints, at the University of Ottawa campus because we wanted to test out the Relish food truck. We spoke about:
– The review of our meal at @Relish as well as some of its history.
– How they go about reviewing restaurants/food trucks
– What makes a successful food truck
– What are the rules for running a food truck in Ottawa
– How the idea of a food blog came about
– Changes in the food industry in Ottawa in the past 5 years (“Ottawa has too many pubs was a general consensus from outsiders”)
– Murray Street Cafe
– Canadian Culinary Championships and how we are consistently placing in the top 3
– We tell the story of Zen Kitchen and the risks they took and how successful they have been since
After the break we discussed many events such as:
– The Ottawa Farmer’s Market Black Box competition
– The Harvest Table is another great event in Augusts.
– Harmony House‘s Red and White event run by Tag Events
– Beau’s Oktoberfest in Vankleek Hill
– Knive’s Out Ottawa
– Clam Jam Ottawa
