The music we feature this week is from the Ottawa alternative group Little Stella. Their newest album is being recorded right now but you can be purchase and listen to their EP here!
We met up with Max Keeping (a href=”http://www.twitter.com/Max_Keeping”>(@max_keeping), one of Ottawa’s most well known philanthropists and community leaders to discuss so many things. We met up with him at the Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery so it’s a little loud (sorry!) and spoke about:
– He’s been to the Gatineau Fireworks every night for 18 years
– On the day we recorded this, it was his first time in many years that he is cancer free
– Get to know what brought and kept him in Ottawa (He’s been here 100 years)
– Some stuff about Newfoundland
– Some favourite restaurants of his include: Big Rig (naturally), Petit Bill’s Bistro, Metropolitan, Murray Street, Newport Pizza.
– Wes’ Chips in Arnprior
– The changes in Ottawa, why it is amazing
– The 2 Ottawa’s, the official political one and the one we are in now
– We have too much childhood poverty here
– Why his mission is what it is
After the break we discussed more specific charities he is with:
– His United Way efforts
– What social workers are doing right now with the charities he is with
– Canadian Tire’s JumpStart
– Things we in Ottawa should be proud of
– The Youville Centre
Here is Little Stella’s amazing video for the final song we played, Bluff.
