First sorry for the sound for the first 20 minutes. When we do these Podcasts, sometimes the Wi-Fi isn’t strong enough, so we tethered the final 12 minutes and that worked. We should do that more in the future. Also, the sound stops at the 7:10 mark and comes back at 7:42.
The musical guest this week was Three Little Birds. They are a great all female three piece band. You have seen them at the Tulip festival, Jazz fest and they even performed at the Sparks Street New Years party! You can get their self-titled debut from May 2012 right HERE!
This week we met up with Peter Hume, the City of Ottawa Councillor from the Alta Vista Ward. He is also the chairman of the Planning Committee. There is so much going on in this city regarding city planning. We just had to get him on. The main thing is the Liveable Ottawa survey which is encompassing the Official Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Infrastructure Master Plan, Cycling Plan and Pedestrian Plan.
This episode did not have a half-time so this summarizes what we spoke about:
– How he got into city politics
– He speaks at length about our rural communities and getting out there, checking out the small, local shops, the country fairs and farmers markets.
– His daughter’s intense ski race schedule
– His role as chairman of the planning committee
– Talking about Liveable Ottawa, the survey and what does it entail, at about the 21 minute time.
– We then discuss the plans and CDP’s and the city’s official plans
Sorry Three Little Birds for not getting enough songs on, we only have thirty minutes and we needed to get the interview in with Peter. I am so sorry. We will have you on again in the future!!
