Our guest this week was Canada’s first (and possibly last) ever Parliamentary Budget officer, Kevin Page. What is that exactly? Well, you will just have to listen. We had the honour to join him at his beautiful office in the Library of Parliament. This is just an outline of several of the topics that Kevin touched on. I hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed making it.

The music this week was from a wonderful Jazz singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Renée Yoxon. She recently released her second album and you can purchase it right here.

With, Kevin we:
– Started with Rick Mercer’s rant about him that sums up a bit about Kevin
– What brought Kevin to Ottawa
– What activities he does around the city (skiing, coaching)
– His dog Marley
– The hidden gems of Ottawa he likes to show his guests when they visit Ottawa
– The restaurants he frequents. Claudio, the soup guy at the World Exchange Plaza almost everyday, Cyranos and Paesano Restaurants, and Greenfields in Barrhaven
– Living in Barrhaven

At the break, we heard Just As We Are from Renee Yoxon.

After the break we spoke about
– The Parliamentary Budget Officer position
– His career worked in public service
– The PBO’s methodologies on costing
– The first few missions the PBO took on
– Budget offices around the world
– The future of the Parliamentary Budget Office

Once again thank you so much to Kevin Page for joining us today.

The main event I spoke about was the Bust A Move event on March 2nd at the Ottawa Athletic Club. There are many events leading up to this great athletic event.
The other event is Cracking up the Capital on February 6-9.
